How do I increase my GS marks in the RRB NTPC stage 2?

General Studies is one of the most important subjects in the RRB NTPC Stage 2 exam. We all know it too well that there is a lot to cover in this subject and thus it becomes very important for us to plan the study accordingly. Many of us take help from old NCERT books, friends or free material available on the internet but how many of you actually apply yourself to an efficient GS strategy?

In this article we will be looking at some tips and tricks that can help you score more marks in General Studies:

1) Make a Preparation Plan

First things first, you need to make a proper timetable for yourself. It is very important that you start your preparation at least one month before the exams since there is no point in running behind the clock towards the final days of the exam.

As far as planning your time is concerned, it's better that you divide your monthly study plan into three weekly and daily plans.

Weekly plan: One week before the exam, revise all topics thoroughly with a special focus on the previous year papers. Beginners should set aside more time for this revision so they can go through all newspapers and magazines once during this time period.

Daily plan: Instead of revising only those concepts which are difficult for us or need improvement, we must attempt all topics every day. Utilize the time gap between chapters to make a quick revision of all topics before proceeding ahead.

2) Focus upon the Relevant Concepts

Every year, there are some concepts that receive special focus from the RRB authorities and thus become very important for us as well. Many candidates score zero marks in these 'important' topics due to their lack of awareness or laxity towards them. You should keep track of all the events of state, national, and international importance and include them in your GS preparation.

3) Keep Track of Current Affairs

When one is preparing for an exam it's not enough that he/she has studied the concepts, rather it becomes very important that the candidate is fully aware of all current events. You should prioritize the Current Affairs section in newspapers or any other source you get your news from and try to cover at least two topics every day. These small efforts can prove beneficial during exams and help you score more marks in the future stages as well.

4) Utilize Free Resources on the Internet Wisely

The RRB NTPC Stage 2 exam doesn't require us to be expert level researchers so we needn't worry about buying expensive material going through several books to prepare for General Studies. There are plenty of free resources available over the internet, thanks to our growing technology but not all are useful. You should look for material that is easy to understand and covers topics that you want to prioritize at the moment.

5) Prepare a Short Note on Important Topics

You can prepare short notes for all important topics during your preparation period and they will come in handy when you have little time left before the exam begins. Such notes will carry more weight if they contain diagrams, statistics or any other evidence with them so you must try to be as creative as possible when preparing these notes.

6) Online Coaching Can Be Helpful

Online coaching for competitive exams is a new trend that has become very popular recently and online coaching for RRB NTPC Stage 2 exam is not an exception. Many aspirants who don't have the time to prepare on their own prefer online coaching since it saves their valuable time and helps them study smarter than before. You can take such classes near your place or even from the comfort of your home, it's entirely up to you!
