The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) is a government body in Andhra Pradesh to recruit candidates for various high-profile government jobs in the state. The APPSC Group-I is the best in A.P, the posts that come under Group-I are Deputy Collector, Regional Transport Officer, Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Audit Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintended of Jails, Divisional Fire Officer, District Employment Officer, and many more. The applicant must meet the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The eligibility criteria for APPSC Group-I posts are as follows:

Age Limit

The age limit is almost the same for most of the posts. The minimum and maximum age limit for most of the Group-I posts is 18-42 years. It varies for some posts, like for Deputy Superintendent of Police it is 21-28 years, for Deputy Superintendent of Jails it is 18-28 years and for Divisional Fire Officer it is 21-26 years. Also, there is age relaxation for certain reserved categories. Age relaxation for various categories as mentioned below:

  • SC, ST & BC – 5 years
  • Physically Handicapped candidates – 10 years
  • Ex-servicemen – 3 years
  • AP State Government Employees (except APSRTC, APSEB, Corporations, and Municipalities) – 5 years
  • NCC instructors – 3 years
  • Retrenched Temporary Employees ( worked minimum 6 months in state census department) – 3 years

Added to this, there is no limitation in attempting the APPSC Group-I exam. Candidates can apply until they reach the maximum age limit for certain posts. So, even if you fail once you can still apply until you cross the maximum age relaxation for the posts you are applying for.

Educational Qualification

Students must have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university by the Government of India or U.G.C. The type of degree varies with the posts you are applying for. The students can this while filling the form.

Physical Requirements

The students must qualify the physical requirements too for some posts. It is not required for all posts. It is listed as follows:

  • Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Jails, and District Fire Officer (Men) – For the general category height must be 167.6 cm and chest must be 86.3 cm with 5 cm expansion. For the ST category height must be 164 cm and the chest must be 83.8 cm with 5 cm expansion.
  • District Fire Officer (Women) – Height must be 152.5 cm and 86.3 cm chest with 5 cm expansion
  • Assistant Prohibition & Excise Superintendent - Height must be 165 cm and chest must be 86 cm with 5 cm expansion.

Eye Vision

The candidates must fulfill the eye vision standards for some posts too as per government rules. If you are not able to fulfill the eyesight requirements then you can get rejected. The eye vision standard for some posts is as follows:

Standard-I

Right Eye – Distant Vision-V – 6/6, Near Vision-Reads - 0.6

Left Eye – Distant Vision-V – 6/6, Near Vision-Reads – 0.6

Standard-II

Better Eye – Distant Vision-V – 6/4, Near Vision-Reads – 0.6

Inferior Eye – Distant Vision-V – without glasses not below 6/6 and with glasses not below 6/24, Near Vision-Reads – 1

Standard-III

Better Eye – Distant Vision-V without glasses not below 6/24 and with glasses not below 6/6, Near Vision-Reads – 0.8

Inferior Eye – Distant Vision-V without glasses not below 6/24 and with glasses not below 6/12 and Near Vision-Reads – 1
