Difference between Group1 and Group 2 posts

The APPSC Group 1 exam is the highest-ranked exam conducted by APPSC for government posts and APPSC Group 2 is the 2nd most important exam conducted by APPSC. Only Group 1 posts are higher ranked than Group 2 in Andhra Pradesh.

APPSC Group 1 Examination

Here is the detail of the posts that fall under Group 1. Before the interview, there are two exams for APPSC Group 1 posts,

Preliminary Exam: It has two papers, Paper-I is General Studies and Paper-II is General Aptitude. Both question papers are objective type and contain a total of 120 questions of 120 marks, the total time limit is of 120 minutes per exam.

Main Exam: The main exam carries two sections called conventional and descriptive. In the conventional section, there are two papers, General English and Telugu exam. It has a total time of 3 hours and 150 marks each. In the descriptive section, there are five papers, such as Paper-I is of General Essay, Paper-II is of History, Culture and Geography of India and Andhra Pradesh, Paper-III is of Polity, Constitution, Governance, Law, and Ethics, Paper-IV is of Economy and Development of India and Andhra Pradesh and Paper-V is of Science, Technology and Environmental Issues. These all papers are of 150 marks and the time available for each exam is 3 hours. After both these processes students can appear for a personal interview.

APPSC Group 2 Examination

APPSC Group 2 is the second most important exam conducted by APPSC; it is only second to Group 1 examination. There are various executive and non-executive posts available under Group 2. Group 2 employees are second in command and they get assistant posts in various departments. Payscale of various executive and non-executive posts is as follows:

Preliminary Exam: It has one paper on General Studies and Mental Ability which is divided into six sections Indian History, Geography, Indian Society, Current Affairs, and Mental Ability. Each section carries 30 marks.

Main Exam: It has two papers and each exam carries 150 marks. Paper I is divided into two sections and each section carries 75 marks. Section A is about the Social & Cultural History of Andhra Pradesh and Section B is about Indian Constitution. Paper II is also marked as Paper-I. In Section A the subjects are Indian & AP Economy and in Section B the subjects are Science & Technology.
