APPSC stands for Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission. It is a body of government officials from several departments who are appointed under the rules and regulations. This commission is mainly responsible for recruiting government officers through written examinations and interviews. According to the APPSC website, there are 18 different Group posts which include General, Backward Communities, BCM, BCWCD, BC, SC, ST and Minorities.
The written examination for these posts is conducted in three phases/stages while the interview will be conducted only after the release of initial results at a later date. The first stage of this examination includes a Preliminary Examination which can be given by anyone out of 3000 higher secondary schools affiliated with APPSC. The second stage of this examination is the Main Examination which can be taken by only those who got qualifying marks in the Preliminary Examination. This exam can be given by any registered with APPSC in any one of the three groups, General, Backward Communities and BCM/BCWCD/BC/SC/ST depending upon the group of the post applied for. The final stage of the examination is the Personality Test which can be given by those who qualify in both the Preliminary and Main examinations and also secured prescribed cut off marks.
Online video lectures are required to be prepared by the candidates for Group I, II, III and IV examinations. You can find these lectures on YouTube or through an app that is available exclusively for APPSC Groups 1,2,3 and 4 aspirants.
Achievers Academy also produces video lectures for APPSC Group 1, 2, 3 & 4 with the help of subject experts and make sure the videos are accessible anytime and anywhere to the students who have enrolled for the course. They provide online coaching classes for APPSC Groups. Their videos are highly appreciated by the students and they have a good student base as a result.
Some candidates prefer reference books in order to prepare for the tests. But, there is no harm in preparing by taking guidance from both online and offline material because both of them have their own merits and demerits. You can find many important books for each of these groups online and I usually recommend NCERT books for most of the subjects because they are easier to understand.
Whether you will need it or not, that is entirely your call. Some candidates prefer to follow the previous year question papers and they do this for all three stages of examination; Preliminary, Main and Personality tests. If you want to go through with this practice then make sure you don't follow the same pattern since APPSC will come out with a fresh question pattern every year. If you want to confirm, then check the official notification of APPSC about last year's question paper pattern and prepare accordingly.
The best practice to prepare for any competitive examination is by taking a series of mock tests. This will help you judge where you stand and whether you need to work on your weak areas or not. You can take the help of past year question papers and previous year question papers in order to develop a mock test for you which will let you know about your performance. For this purpose, you can take help from various websites that offer such tests.
Finally, it is also advisable to keep an eye on newly published newspaper articles and magazines in order to get accustomed to current affairs. This is a good way to keep in touch with the latest happenings in society and also increase your vocabulary which will be a plus point when you attend the interview.
Keeping all these factors in mind, I hope this blog post has been helpful for you.
