The APPSC Group 1 exam has three stages of selection, namely, the Preliminary Examination, the Main Examination, and the Interview.
The Main Examination is designed to test the academic ability and mental alertness of the candidates. It consists of seven papers; the first two papers are in English and Telugu. Candidates have to attempt five more papers.
Paper I: General Essay
Paper II: History, Culture, and Geography
Paper III: Polity, Constitution, Law, and Governance
Paper-IV: Economy and Development
Paper-V: Science and Technology
All 7 seven papers are of 150 marks each and students have a total of 3 hours for each section.
The best scoring section is the General Essay paper. Many candidates find this section to be the most difficult, but it is also the section that can earn you the most marks. The essay paper tests the ability of students to think critically and to communicate their ideas clearly and effectively. It is important to remember that there is no one right answer to any question. Instead, the essay is graded on the ability of students to argue their point of view and support it with evidence.
To get a high score on the essay, students need to focus on three things: content, structure, and style.
If students can focus on these three things, they will be well on their way to getting a high score on the essay portion of the APPSC Group 1 exam.
Other than this section the first two papers in English and Telugu are also high scoring. So, students should focus on these two papers as well. Students just need to have a good command of the language and they can easily score high marks on these papers.
The other exams are also important. But, these papers require more factual knowledge and less analytical skills. So, students should focus on preparing for these exams by reading books and other reference materials.
