Who is eligible for the TS TET?


The TS TET exam is conducted for candidates who wish to become teachers in schools affiliated with the Telangana Board. As per the latest notification, the minimum qualification required to appear for the TS TET exam is a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). Candidates who have done their B.Ed from a recognized university are also eligible to apply for the TS TET exam.

The age limit for appearing in the TS TET exam is 18 minimum.

The exam is conducted in two parts- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates who wish to become teachers for classes I to V have to take Paper 1, while those who wish to become teachers for classes VI to VIII have to take Paper 2.

What are the other eligibility criteria?

TSTET Eligibility Criteria for Paper-I

  • This exam is open to students who have completed 10+2 or an equivalent program with an average grade of 50%. The required grades for OBC/PwD/ST candidates are 45 percent..
  • Candidates must have a two-year Diploma in Special Education/ 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (B El Ed)/ 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
  • Candidates must have a 10+2 degree from a recognized board or an institution that has 45 percent marks. It is still necessary to gain 45% in the 10+2 examination for OBC, PWD, SC/ST candidates.
  • A two-year Diploma in Special Education, a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or a four-year B El Ed is required.

TSTET Eligibility Criteria for Paper-II

Candidates for the Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test Paper-II must meet the following requirements:

  • Candidates must have earned a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% in aggregate. For OBC/ PwD/ SC/ ST applicants, an aggregate of 45 percent marks is required.
  • A Bachelor of Education with a concentration in Special Education and a bachelor's degree in education is required (B.Ed.).
OR
  • Candidates must have a BSc. / B. Com/ BA degree with at least 50% overall grades. OBC, PwD, and SC/ST applicants may use 40% of their aggregate grade points to apply.
  • To be eligible, applicants must have a bachelor's degree in education (B.Ed.) with a specialty in special education or a bachelor's degree in education (B.Ed.) and a master's degree in education (M.Ed.).
OR
  • Candidates should have cleared four-year BA Ed/ BSc. Ed course with at least 50% aggregate marks. OBC/ PwD/ SC/ ST candidates can apply with 45% aggregate marks.
OR
  • Candidates must have Graduation in Literature/ Bachelor of Oriental Language or its equivalent/ Post-graduation in the language concerned/ Graduation with Language as one of the optional subjects.
  • B.Ed. or a Language Pandit Training Certificate is necessary for applicants seeking to teach in rural areas; these requirements apply only to language instructors.
  • Candidates who are taking the last year of their Diploma in Elementary Education/ Bachelor of Education degree may also apply for the Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test exam 2022.

Added to this candidate must have earned a degree/diploma from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). However, only candidates with a B.Ed. special education/ diploma in education (special education) may use this credential and get certified only through the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

Tips For Paper I

Paper I assesses a candidate's abilities in Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies.

  • Child Development and Pedagogy: The questions asked under this section are based on the theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, etc. Candidates should have a clear understanding of these theories to score well in this section.
  • Language I & II: The questions in these sections will be based on the teaching-learning process of the first language and second language included in the syllabus for classes I-VIII of Telangana State only. Candidates will have to answer all the questions in both the languages they are comfortable with.
  • Mathematics: This section will test the candidate's knowledge of the areas of Mathematics included in the syllabus for classes I-VIII of Telangana State only.
  • Environmental Studies: The questions under this section will be based on the topics of Environmental Studies included in the syllabus for classes I-VIII of Telangana State only.

Paper II

Paper II assesses a candidate's abilities in Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, and Optional Subjects (Mathematics, Physical Science, Biological Science, Social Studies/ Social Science).

  • Child Development and Pedagogy: The questions asked under this section are based on the theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, etc. Candidates should have a clear understanding of these theories to score well in this section.
  • Language I & II: The questions in these sections will be based on the teaching-learning process of the first language and second language included in the syllabus for classes I-VIII of Telangana State only. Candidates will have to answer all the questions in both the languages they are comfortable with.
  • Optional Subjects: Mathematics, Physical Science, Biological Science, Social Studies/ Social Science: In this section, candidates will have to answer questions from any two of the optional subjects chosen by them. The syllabus for each of these optional subjects is given in the official notification.
